What is It?
Pervious Concrete is a
conventional, portland-cement based concrete manufactured
with no sand in the mix. It is producted at most local
ready-mix concrete plants, and transported to the job site
in conventional concrete mixer trucks. Pervious
Concrete is a non-proprietary material.
Pervious Pavements have become
an integral part of the design for many commercial projects
because of Federal Mandates to store and treat stormwater
on-site. It also satisifies Federal Green-Building
requirements.
Even though there are many
different types of pervious pavements, only Pervious
Concrete forms a rigid pavement surface.
Pervious Concrete, once
installed, should never be resurfaced. The material
becomes stronger as it ages. A properly maintained
pervious concrete parking lot will continue to function as
designed for more than twenty years. The perk-rate of
new, properly installed pavements is generally 200-500
inches per hour. Testing devicves should be installed in new
pavement or retrofits to ensure it is aging properly and
performing as designed. The pavement should be
maintained by proper cleaning.
Pervious Concrete is a unique
material. Federal Guidelines suggest using only
experienced personnel, certified by the NRMCA to construct
or maintain the pavement. Magruder Construction is
leading the field of pervious concrete. You will see
we are uniquely qualified and experienced to serve your
needs in this field. Find out more about who we are
