Warren B. Magruder started his "family
business" back in 1956, when he purchased a bulldozer and began doing custom
work in the Pike and Lincoln County (Missouri) areas. Warren ran the
bulldozer and his wife, the late Mary Margery (Nonnie) Magruder, served as
secretary and bookkeeper.Magruder Construction Co. grew and in
1962, it was awarded its first state highway contract. Today, the company
does work throughout the U.S., including a considerable amount of state and
federal work.
In 1970, Magruder Construction Co.
incorporated, with Warren serving as president and Nonnie serving as
secretary-treasure. They both served in those capacities until Nonnie's
death in December, 1989, Warren retired as president in January, 1990, but
remains active in the business. The couple's sons, Mike and Mark now serve
as officers of the corporation.
Magruder Construction Co. purchased its
first Mud Cat Dredge in 1971, opening a new facet of their business moving
dirt, sand and sludge. Then in 1986, they added a larger dredge, the "Mary
M'.
Magruder Construction Co. has always been
a family-owned and operated business, with the family extending to their
well thought of and loyal employees. "we attribute our success in this
